Overview

The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was a four-engine, heavy bomber which played a key role in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. The B-17’s were armed with several machine guns and 4,000 lbs of bombs. The B-17 dropped more bombs than any other American aircraft during the war, becoming an iconic symbol for the U.S. Air Force.
