F/A – 18E/F Super Hornet

Overview

F/A-18 Super Hornets are highly capable, twin-engine, fighter aircrafts of U.S. Navy. The Super Hornets come in two models, the single-seated F/A-18E model, and the two-seated F/A-18F model. They are the more advanced variant of the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet and are capable of performing an extensive variety of tactical missions.

The first operational F/A-18 Super Hornets squadron was formed in June of 2001. In April of 2005, Boeing delivered the F/A-18 Block II Super Hornet, built with the world’s first tactical, multi-mode AESA radar. In August of 2021, the first F/A-18 Block III Super Hornet was delivered to the U.S. Navy from Boeing.

Blue Angels

In 2021, the Blue Angels replaced their F/A-18 Hornets with the new F/A-18 Super Hornets. The Super Hornets are more powerful and provide pilots with better speed and maneuverability. The 2021 season marked the team’s 75th anniversary.
